February 4: Little kitten is very unsure of this

Oh the many faces of Alice. Gassy, Happy, Skeptical, Pooping, Serious, Dramatic...to be fair, that's more like two faces, one for happy, and one (in these photos) for the rest. "Baby meow" as she was first deemed by her brother, did smile much sooner than Hen, who held out on us until about week 10. I'm working hard to capture this precious event on camera, but it's tough to do, because it leaves as quickly as it arrives.

The weekend photos should prove to be lots of fun. All four of the McDougall girls are staying at 412 Kauffman for an almost impromptu sleepover tomorrow night. I am beyond excited to spend the night with my sisters in our old home.

February 3: 13lbs 10oz

Alice is waking up from a nap and taking her grand ol' time opening her eyes here. She did extremely well today at her 2 month checkup, I, however, will never get used to the horrible sound of pained baby cries that inevitably follows the shots she receives at these doctor visits. The nurse practically flew out of the room after administering three shots into my sweet kitten's fat little thighs. Maybe she was just rushing in between appointments, but I like to think that it was so difficult for her to see my child in pain that she just had no choice but to run. As a mom it just becomes so easy to make it all about your kid.

February 2: Storytime

Red wine, Roald Dahl and Henry, three things I greatly enjoy, all in the very same picture. We made it through about 7 lines of an excerpt from "The Twits" when he decided it was time to stop "talking to the book" and count all of the birds in the picture. We'll put Dahl back on the shelf for now and will try again some other time, perhaps with a page from the BFG or James and the Giant Peach.

February 1: Cookies for B

Fresh out of the oven and very tempting to big and little hands alike...cookies for our friend Benjamin who recently spent an unexpected night at the hospital, more than any near 2 year old should have to endure!

The Prodigal Blogger returns...

...tail between her legs, hoping you'll be so kind as to give her another shot. This time, I'm focusing on the photos, 365 of them to be exact. I've come to the game a month late, but with very serious commitment to the project. I'll take a photo every day and will post them here. Feb. 1 and Feb. 2 posts will shortly follow. I hope you enjoy a year in the life of Hen and his little sister Alice.
